This benefit concert had been organized by the Manolis L Concert Committee, a volunteer group of concerned citizens in the Notre Dame Bay area. It is our hope and intention that the Oil Out! Concert will raise public awareness of the impending environmental crisis in Northeastern Newfoundland caused by the sunken vessel the Manolis L and her cargo of leaking crude, and that this growing public awareness will wake up our federal government to the need for an immediate permanent solution to the problem before it is too late.
